Advanced Configurations of Locations

This section describes the following configurations:

• Update GPS Coordinates of a Location

• Update Layout Coordinates of a Location

• Re-Parent a Location

Update GPS Coordinates of a Location

This function lets you update the GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of a location on the map. It is used to mark new locations and update their GPS coordinates in the application.

Place Marker on the map and Update GPS Coordinates

To place the marker on the map and update GPS coordinates, complete these instructions:

1. Click the Settings icon and select Locations under View section or click Locations tab on Location Dashboard. Locations page will appear.

2. Search for the required location and click on the location name to go to the detailed page.

3. Click the Location Details tab.

4. On the Sidebar to the right side, click the Update GPS Coordinates link under the Advanced section.

5. Drag the marker on the map and place on the new location. New location’s latitude and longitude coordinates will be displayed under current location’s Latitude and Longitude boxes respectively.

6. Click Update Location. The new location will be marked and its GPS coordinates will be saved.

Show Marker: Find the Marker on the map

To find the Marker on the map, click the Show Marker link. It will direct to the place where the Marker is on the map.

Enter Coordinates Manually and Update Location

If you know the GPS coordinates of the location that you need to mark on the map, you can enter the latitude and longitude coordinates in the given box and update the new location’s coordinates in the application.

Enter coordinates manually and update location as follows:

1. Go to the required location’s detailed page and click the Location Details tab.

2. On the Sidebar to the right side, click the Update GPS Coordinates link under the Advanced section.

3. Click Manual Entry link and type the GPS coordinates as per the given format (latitude, longitude) in the Coordinates window. Click Set.

4. Entered GPS coordinates will be displayed in the respective Latitude and Longitude boxes under Current location.

5. Click Update Location.

To find a location by its GPS coordinates, type the coordinates (latitude, longitude) in the Address box, and click Search.

Update Layout Coordinates of a Location

This function is used to mark locations on their respective uploaded layouts. (e.g., A Floor Layout can be used to mark Spaces/Units in the same Floor).

Note – To mark layout coordinates of a Location, you need to have an uploaded Layout of the current location’s immediate ‘Parent Location’. If a layout not found, go to the detailed page of the immediate Parent Location-->Layouts tab and add the relevant Layout.

1. Click the Settings icon and select Locations under View section or click Locations tab on Location Dashboard. Locations page will appear.

2. Search for the required location and click on the location name to go to the detailed page.

3. Click the Location Details tab.

4. On the Sidebar, click the Update Layout Coordinates link. Layout of the immediate parent location will be displayed. If there is more than one layout, select the relevant layout from the quick option list (To use the ‘Update Layout Coordinates’ function, relevant layout/layouts should be uploaded to the current location’s immediate parent location).

5. Click the icon to Zoom-in the layout.

6. Drag and place the blue marker on the correct position to mark the location on the layout.

7. Click Update Layout to save the changes.

8. To remove the current marking of the location from the layout, click Remove this marking. Current marking of the location will be removed and marker will be placed at the initial default location on the layout.

Re-Parent a Location

After a location is configured, it has to be attached to a parent location in order to connect it to the location hierarchy. Re-parent a location operation can be used to attach the current location to a Parent Location or to change the current parent of a location.

1. Click the Settings icon and select Locations under View section or click Locations tab on Location Dashboard. Locations page will appear.

2. Search for the required location and click on the location name to go to its detailed page.

3. Click the Location Details tab.

4. On the Sidebar to the right side, click the Re-parent this location link under the Advanced section.

5. On the Re-parent Location page, select the new Parent Location.

   1. To select the parent location from the Location list box, click in the box and select the location from the list.

   2. To select the parent location from the Location search page, click the Search icon and select the location you want from the Location search page that appears.

   3. To select the location from the pin board, click the Pin icon.

6. Click Set New Parent Location.

Note – Re-parenting a location is an advanced operation. This should be done only by administrators/ operators having complete understanding of the location hierarchy.

Tip – Re-parenting a location will make the child locations also to move with the location being re-parented.
