# Chapter 4: Alarm Escalation
**Alarm Escalation** is the process of **notifying alarms up the hierarchy**, to the interested **notification groups**, according to pre-configured **escalation matrices**.
**Escalation levels** are configured for each **Alarm Class** in a way that if no action is taken at the **first level** within a given time, Alarm is routed to the **notification groups** at the **second level**, and again still if there is no action taken at the timeout for the third escalation level the alarm being routed to a **notification group** at a **third level** if it is configured.

\&#xNAN;***Alarm Notification Groups*** *configured under this (Settings🡪Alarm Escalation🡪Alarm Notification Groups) will be displayed under the “Alarm Escalation Disable Notification Group” Drop-down box in App Configuration page (Settings🡪Manage🡪App Configuration🡪Alarm Escalation) to be selected as the respective Alarm Notification Group.*

### Configure Alarm Notification Groups
1. Click the **Settings** icon  and select **Alarm Notification Groups** under **Alarm Escalation** section. **Alarm Notification Groups** search page will appear.
2. Click on **New Alarm Notification Group** link. **New Alarm Notification Group** dialog box appears.
3. In the **Group Name** box, type a unique and appropriate name for the new **Notification Group**.
4. Click **Add** to create the new **Notification Group**. Click the **Close** icon 
to abort the operation.
5. Go to **Notification Group** details page.
6. Under **Members** section, click on **Add a Member** link. **User Search** page appears.
7. Select a **User** from the **User Search** page.
8. Repeat the steps 6, 7 to keep adding the **Users**, you want in this **Notification Group**.
### Edit an Alarm Notification Group
1. Click the **Settings** icon  and select **Alarm Notification Groups** under **Alarm Escalation** section. **Alarm Notification Groups Search** page will appear.
2. Type the name of the **Notification Group** in to the **Search Alarm Notification Group** input box to search for the **Alarm Notification Group.**
3. Click on the name of the **Notification Group** to be edited. Detail page will appear.
4. Hover over details section and click the **Edit** 
icon.
5. Edit the **Notification Group name** and click **Save**.
6. Under **Members** section, click on **Add a Member** link. **User Search page** appears.
7. Select a **User** from the **User Search** page.
8. Repeat steps 6, 7 to keep adding the Users you want in this Notification Group.
9. Click on the **Delete** icon  on the far right of each group member name to remove the member from the group.
### Delete an Alarm Notification Group
1. Click the **Settings** icon  and select **Alarm Notification Group** under **Alarm Escalation** section. **Alarm Notification Group search** page will appear.
2. Type the name of the **Alarm Notification Group** in to the **Search Alarm Notification Group** input box to search for the **Notification Group** you want.
3. Click on the name of the **Notification Group** to be deleted.
4. On the sidebar, click on the **Delete Alarm Notification Group** link or the **Delete** icon 
to delete this **Alarm Notification Group**.
5. A message box to confirm deletion appears. Click **Delete** to confirm deletion of the **Alarm Notification Group,** or to close the message box without deleting, click the **Close** icon

**If the Alarm Notification Group is in use:**\
An Alarm Notification Group which is in use, cannot be deleted**.**
### Search Alarm Notification Groups
1. Click the **Settings** icon and select **Alarm Notification Groups** under **Alarm Escalation** section. **Alarm Notification Group Search** page will appear.
2. Type the name of the **Alarm Notification Group** in to the **Search Alarm Notification Group** input box to search for the **Alarm Notification Group.**

## Alarm Escalation Matrix
**Alarm Escalation Matrix** allows you to add **Alarm Notification Groups** to each Escalation Level of an Alarm.
First escalation message will be sent based on the time you have given as the shortest Escalation time considering whether **Working Hours** or **After Hours**.
Alarm Escalation Matrix will be populated with records which allow you add Alarm Notification Groups to each Escalation Level of the selected Alarm. Each Alarm will have a record on Alarm Escalation Matrix with the associated details (Equipment Template, Point Template, Alarm Message, and Alarm Class) along with the 5 Escalation Levels. You need to add Alarm Notification Groups to each Escalation Level under Working Hours and After Hours.

To add Alarm Notification Groups to each Escalation Level on Alarm Escalation Matrix;
1. Go to **Settings** menu🡪 **Alarm Escalation 🡪Alarm Escalation Matrix.**
2. Navigate to the Working Hours tab,
1. In the **Search Alarm** box, type the required Alarm to search for it.
2. Click the 
icon of Escalation Level. A pop-up window appear to add Alarm Notification Group.
3. Click **Add a Group** link and select the required Alarm Notification Group.
4. Add Notification Groups to rest of the Escalation Levels as well.
3. Add Notification Groups to the Escalation Levels under **After Hours** tab also.
